A Musical Affair

by Jonathan Thorne

From across the room, you catch my eye
As you lie enthroned on red velvet.
Each graceful curve of your body entices me
And I feel the burning desire to play that endless song.
As you surrender to my dulcet embrace,
Your golden body pressed close to mine,
We break down the barriers of all emotion
While my fingers caress your dark, slender neck.
Without a word, the music begins;
Every motion of your flowing hair
Evolving into the clear melodies of a song.
Together, our thoughts become as one
And I am completely lost in your sweet innocence.
In the passion of the moment, all senses combine
And we are transported beyond all place and time.
But reality soon fades away into a sweet dream
And as the last note dies, I wonder
Who could ever take the place of a violin?
